Position Summary

The Explosives Material Handler receives, stores, accounts for, moves, issues, packages, and ships energetic materials, ammunition, and explosives in support of Department of Defense production, testing, storage, and sustainment missions. The incumbent works in magazines, process buildings, and outdoor explosive operating areas at CMG's Ballinger, TX campus, operating under Defense Explosives Safety Regulation (DESR) 6055.09, DA PAM 385-64, applicable Service explosives safety publications, 27 CFR (ATF), and 49 CFR hazardous materials transportation rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage receiving, inventory movements, material issuance, cycle counts, and finished goods.

  • Maintain accurate inventory, locations, lot numbers, and material traceability.

  • Support batch manufacturing, including material consumption, yields, scrap, and adjustments.

  • Help build inventory processes, controls, and SOPs from the ground up.

  • Support ERP implementation and help translate shop-floor processes into the system.

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and drive corrective actions.

  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Production, and Finance to maintain inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of inventory/materials experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with batch manufacturing and lot-controlled inventory.

  • Strong ERP/MRP experience; ERP implementation or process-build experience strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience building or improving inventory systems and processes.

  • Strong understanding of receiving, inventory control, production consumption, and traceability.

  • Comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced, early-stage manufacturing environment.

  • Must obtain and maintain HAZMAT shipping certification.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

On-site at CMG's Ballinger, TX campus, working in magazines, process buildings, and outdoor explosive operating areas with direct exposure to energetic materials and ammunition. Requires use of PPE, extended periods of standing and walking, and the ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. May require shift, weekend, or on-call coverage depending on production and mission requirements.
