What Day Do Startups Announce Funding? Tuesday, by a Wide Margin
Funding announcements are planned like product launches, and the timing is remarkably consistent. We looked at 26,792 rounds announced between January 2025 and September 2026. A quarter of them were announced on a Tuesday. Fridays get about one in ten, and weekends almost none.
Key findings
- 25.5% of rounds are announced on Tuesday, more than any other day.
- Tuesday to Thursday accounts for 70% of announcements.
- Friday gets 10.6%, and Saturday and Sunday 2.7% combined.
- The bigger the round, the stronger the Tuesday habit: 30% of Series B rounds land on a Tuesday.
- In the last two weeks of December, announcements run about 40% below the usual daily rate.

Founders and their PR people avoid Monday, when inboxes are full from the weekend, and Friday, when news gets buried. Tuesday morning gives reporters time to write and leaves the rest of the week for follow-up coverage.
Bigger rounds are even more likely to land on Tuesday
| Stage | Tuesday | Friday | Weekend |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-Seed | 28.7% | 8.3% | 4.5% |
| Seed | 25.9% | 10.8% | 3.1% |
| Series A | 28.1% | 7.4% | 3.5% |
| Series B | 30.3% | 6.2% | 1.8% |
| Series C | 29.7% | 6.1% | 1.8% |
Series B and C announcements are the most tightly scheduled, almost always with a PR firm and an embargoed story behind them. Seed rounds are the most likely to go out on a Friday or a weekend. Often that's a founder posting on LinkedIn when the money lands.
US and European habits are almost identical
| Region | Mon | Tue | Wed | Thu | Fri | Weekend |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | 15.8% | 26.5% | 23.7% | 21.1% | 10.1% | 2.8% |
| Europe | 18.5% | 25.5% | 21.8% | 21.7% | 9.7% | 2.8% |
| Rest of world | 17.9% | 23.2% | 22.6% | 20.8% | 13.1% | 2.5% |
European startups announce a little more on Monday, and the rest of the world more on Friday, partly because in some regions the working week ends on Thursday.
The calendar matters too
August is the quietest month, as Europe goes on holiday and US reporters thin out. September is the busiest, as deals held back over the summer go out together. The last two weeks of December are slowest of all: about 27 rounds a day, against a usual 45.
What this means for sales and recruiting
If you reach out to newly funded companies, the Tuesday wave is your signal. Most of the week's new rounds are public by Wednesday morning. Following up on Wednesday or Thursday puts your message in front of founders while the news is fresh, and before the next week's announcements bury it. Expect a flood of new rounds in September and a quieter pipeline in August and late December.
More on timing: how to prospect recently funded startups.
Methodology
We used the announcement date of each company's latest funding round in the VCbacked database, January 2025 to September 2026. Rounds dated the 1st of the month were excluded: when only the month of a round is known, it is recorded on the 1st, and including those would skew the weekday counts. The day-per-month and December figures use the same rule. Data as of November 3, 2026.
