Custom MCP connector for Muse

Ask Muse who just raised

Connect VCbacked and the funding database answers inside the conversation — which companies raised, how much, from whom, and how to reach the founder.

Muse · VCbacked connector

Which fintech companies raised a Series A in the last 30 days?

search_companiesindustry: fintech · funded_within: 30d

14 companies matched. The three largest rounds:

What people ask it

Every prompt below works as written once the connector is added.

Sales and business development

A fresh round is the clearest buying signal there is: new budget, new headcount, new problems. Ask for the ones that fit your ICP and work the list the same day.

  • Which fintech companies raised a Series A in the last 30 days in New York?
  • Draft a short intro email to the founders of each company that raised a seed round in climate tech this month, referencing their round.
  • Find companies that raised more than $10M in the last 60 days and are headquartered outside the US.
  • Here are 40 target accounts — for each, tell me the most recent round, amount and lead investors.

Investors and deal teams

Track what is closing in your thesis, spot which funds keep showing up together, and see a sector heating up while it is still early.

  • Which seed-stage robotics companies raised in the last 60 days, and which investors appear most often across them?
  • Compare seed funding volume in healthcare versus fintech over the last 90 days, by number of rounds and total raised.
  • List every company that raised a pre-seed round in AI infrastructure this month with what each one is building.
  • Which companies raised for the first time this quarter in my focus sectors?

Recruiters and talent

Funding precedes hiring by weeks. Reach the founder before the roles are posted and before every other recruiter has seen them.

  • Show me companies that raised a Series B in the last 90 days in Austin.
  • Which companies raised over $25M in the last 30 days and are likely scaling engineering?
  • Give me the founder contact for each company that raised a Series A in devtools this month.

Founders, marketers and operators

Watch your competitive set, brief your team on the week, or find newly funded companies that are about to need exactly what you sell.

  • Every Monday, list companies that raised in the past 7 days with more than $5M and summarize each one.
  • Draft this week’s funding roundup: the 10 largest rounds, one sentence each, grouped by sector.
  • Who raised in my category in the last 90 days, and how much have they raised in total?

What comes back

Every matching company returns the full record — the same data the VCbacked app and REST API return, sorted by most recent raise.

Adding it to Muse

1

Get your API key

Generate a key on your VCbacked profile. Requires an active annual plan.

2

Add a custom connector

In Muse, add a remote MCP connector pointing at the VCbacked endpoint, with your key as a bearer token.

3

Ask away

Muse gains two tools for searching the funding database and answers from live data.

Connector endpoint

https://app.vcbacked.co/api/mcp/companies

Read-only by design. The connector searches and returns data. It performs no writes and sends nothing on your behalf — if Muse drafts outreach from the results, sending happens through your own email tooling and account.

Questions

Is VCbacked available in Muse?

You can add VCbacked to Muse today as a custom connector — Muse supports remote MCP servers, and VCbacked runs one. A listing in the Muse connector directory has been prepared and is subject to Muse’s review; we will update this page when it is live.

How do I add it?

In Muse, add a custom connector pointing at https://app.vcbacked.co/api/mcp/companies and supply your VCbacked API key as a bearer token. Generate the key on your VCbacked profile page. The full setup steps are in the connector documentation.

What can Muse actually do with it?

Two read-only tools: search the funding database with filters (industry, location, round type, funding size, how recently they raised) and list the newest rounds. Muse can then summarize, compare, group, or draft outreach from the results — whatever you ask of it in the conversation.

How current is the data?

You choose the window on every question — 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days. Results are sorted by most recent raise first, so the newest rounds in your window come back at the top.

What does it cost?

The connector is included with an annual VCbacked plan — Pro at $299/year, or Lifetime — at no extra charge. It shares the same API key and rate limit budget as the REST API rather than costing extra.

Can Muse send emails on my behalf through this connector?

No. The VCbacked connector is read-only and performs no writes and no sending. If you ask Muse to draft outreach, the drafting happens in Muse and sending goes through whatever email tooling you have connected, under your own account and consent practices.

Does it work with other assistants?

Yes. It is a standard remote MCP server, so it works with Claude, ChatGPT and any client that supports MCP. The setup is the same endpoint and the same API key.

Give Muse the funding database

Included with every annual plan. Same key, same data, no extra cost.
